Fire crews were battling a fire at a cement plant when they were called to a rescue on an embankment on Catasauqua Avenue in Whitehall Township, the Whitehall Bureau of Fire said.

The victim — an 80-year-old man — fell 15 to 30 feet and struck a tree, LehighValleyLive reports.

Firefighters used rope rigs to pull the man to safety, with help from neighboring crews, fire officials said.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, the fire department said.
